Portraits: Smokin’ Joe Frazier

March 3rd, 2010  |  Published in Editorial Photography, Philadelphia

I got the opportunity through a friend to photograph Joe Frazier, an Olympic and World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, in his own Philadelphia apartment. Click here to view my favorite photo of Smokin’ Joe from 1971 when he was at the top of his game and defeated Muhammad Ali at Madison Square Garden in what was dubbed “The Fight of the Century”.

Shooting Joe was surreal experience.  We were just sitting in his living room, listening to his stories and hearing him sing.  He is a fascinating guy and I felt privileged to have had this opportunity.  To see more of our shoot with Smokin’ Joe, click here.
