Gatorade REPLAY Season 2

May 4th, 2010  |  Published in Outside Philadelphia  |  2 Comments

This year I got the opportunity to shoot REPLAY Season 2 for Gatorade.  Last year I shot the REPLAY Season 1 game as well.  To view my blog post from last years game, click here.

In this second season, the intense rivalry between the two hockey powerhouses, the Trenton Trojans and the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks, gets played out in Detroit. Their rivalry runs deep since the dreaded 1999 season.  In their second game, with a 4-4 tie, Trenton Trojans player Kurt La Tarte had his jugular accidently slit open by another player’s skate.  This horrific accident almost cost him his life.  Both teams ended the game that day in a tie while they prayed for Kurt.  Catholic Central became State Champs that year.  The Trenton Trojans never recovered from the horrible shake up.  Ironically, Catholic Central’s only loss that year was their first match up with Trenton. Although much time has passed, their old wounds have yet to heal.  So for REPLAY’s Season 2 event, Catholic Central and Trenton are finally settling the score once and for all.  I am fortunate enough to be covering the game this May 9th.  To watch the teaser, click here.

Both teams have been practicing and meeting with sport scientists to get ready for the game.  To view images from their practice on Gatorade’s flickr page, click here.  To join the REPLAY Season 2 Facebook page, click here.

Below is an image from their first training.
