Making a new portfolio to showcase my work has been on my to do list for far too long. The final product was completed just in time for 2 days of meetings in New York via NYC Fotoworks at the end of October. The idea is solely my own but thanks to Nicole Anderson of NA Book Arts, my vision came to life. Key components to the portfolio include leather from Wilson Sporting Goods, (yes, it’s same exact leather that NFL Footballs are made from) synthetic turf from Synthetic Turf International (the specific product I chose is intended for pets) and an Apple iPad.

A short video is below to give readers a sense of presentation. Detailed images follow.

This month I was lucky enough to be selected as one of Photoshelter‘s Featured Photographers. This is a great way to get my work out their in front of photo buyers and ad agencies. If you want to learn about what it takes to be featured, check out this page here.

I have been using Photoshelter for years. It’s an extremely useful website, which allows photographers like myself, to display, sell, and deliver photos to clients. It is also an extremely safe and convenient storage device. For instance, I currently have 1TB of online storage for every job I’ve shot in the past 365 days. Photoshelter acts as my offsite backup. To view more info about Photoshelter’s storage capabilities click here. Anyone can use Photoshelter’s search engine to view my entire image archive to find the particular images they are looking for. Click here to view my search page.

I also like to use Photoshelter to create instant galleries with varying downloading permissions for clients such as the galleries I link to on my blog.

If you have any questions about Photoshelter and how I use it, feel free to email me (steve@steveboylephoto.com). If you chose to sign up, use this link here; you’ll save money and I get a mini discount too.

Last minute, my friend Shawn Corrigan (www.shawncorrigan.com) and I decided to drive cross country after I had a photo shoot in Detriot. Shawn started the drive from Philly, then to Buffalo, cut through Canada and into Detriot, where he picked me up. The first night we stopped in Chicago to visit friends and then decided to go north to avoid a storm. We spent a night in Minneapolis, then muscled our way through North Dakota where we spent the night at a truck stop. The next morning we arrived at Yellowstone National Park. We spent two days in Yellowstone, then drove to Glacier National Park, and spent another two days there. We then stopped by to see our photographer friend, Shanenon (shanenon.com) on the way to spend the night in Boise, Idaho. Lake Tahoe was our next stop where where we visited another friend, Vince (runvmc.com). We stayed out a bit too late that night and I missed my flight from San Francisco to Philadelphia. The next flight flew out of Reno, so I never actually made it to California. I didn’t mind though because it really was an awesome trip.

The photo below was taken at Yellowstone National Park where I was shooting for the Rave Run section of Runner’s World Magazine. To view more images from Yellowstone National Park click here to view the gallery. To see the images from Glacier National Park, click here.

This year I got the opportunity to shoot REPLAY Season 2 for Gatorade. Last year I shot the REPLAY Season 1 game as well. To view my blog post from last years game, click here.

In this second season, the intense rivalry between the two hockey powerhouses, the Trenton Trojans and the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks, gets played out in Detroit. Their rivalry runs deep since the dreaded 1999 season. In their second game, with a 4-4 tie, Trenton Trojans player Kurt La Tarte had his jugular accidently slit open by another player’s skate. This horrific accident almost cost him his life. Both teams ended the game that day in a tie while they prayed for Kurt. Catholic Central became State Champs that year. The Trenton Trojans never recovered from the horrible shake up. Ironically, Catholic Central’s only loss that year was their first match up with Trenton. Although much time has passed, their old wounds have yet to heal. So for REPLAY’s Season 2 event, Catholic Central and Trenton are finally settling the score once and for all. I am fortunate enough to be covering the game this May 9th. To watch the teaser, click here.

Both teams have been practicing and meeting with sport scientists to get ready for the game. To view images from their practice on Gatorade’s flickr page, click here. To join the REPLAY Season 2 Facebook page, click here.

Below is an image from their first training.
